Problems with WiFi, sound and Bluetooth

I just got emergency mode to stop when I edited /etc/fstab but now I can’t get WiFi, Bluetooth, and sound to work. Bluetooth wont enable, I don’t even see WiFi and sound has nothing but a dummy option. The last 3 days have been a nightmare so if anyone has a idea on how to fix this please let me know and quick. Thank you to anyone who helps.

Is this a new issue or a follow on to an earlier problem. The mention of emergency mode makes me wonder.

Editing /etc/fstab can be risky. Did you by chance save a copy of the original so we might compare the present values with an original version?

Please post the output of cat /etc/fstab, lsblk -f, rfkill, and inxi -Fzxx. If you have a copy of the original /etc/fstab please post that as well.

Hi @computersavvy
I have the original fstab I just commented out after failing to mount a NTFS drive

This makes it appear that you have 2 different devices. An intel AX210 pcie wifi adapter and an intel AX210 bluetooth usb adapter. We really need the output of lspci -nnx to verify the actual hardware.

The fact that a driver is not loaded for the AX210 seems the cause of it not working and the fact that rfkill returns nothing.

What is the output of lsmod | grep iwl?
What happens if you do sudo modprobe iwlwifi?
What is the output of lsmod | grep iwl after doing the modprobe command just above?
What is the output of ls /lib/firmware/iwlwifi* and ls /lib/firmware/intel?

also what is the output of dnf list installed linux-firmware?
I would like to work only on the wifi & bluetooth at first and once that is solved we can tackle the audio.

“lsmod | grep iwl” gives litterery nothing

“sudo modprobe iwlwifi” says

modprobe: FATAL: Module iwlwifi not found in directory /lib/modules/6.0.15-602.inttf.fc37.x86_64

“lsmod | grep iwl” does not give anything

“ls /lib/firmware/iwlwifi*”

That tells me the firmware is up to date and that the wifi driver is not installed/active.

This tells me you are not using a fedora kernel. If you were it would show something like
/lib/modules/6.0.15-300.fc37.x86_64/ as part of that path.
Since it is not a fedora kernel the driver is not getting built so it cannot be used.
Please post the output of dnf list installed kernel*6.0.15*

My suggestion is to remove the INTTF kernel, disable that repo, install the latest kernel from fedora, then see if the driver gets loaded and usable.

I’ll do that. While I do so here is the output

Ok, the removal would be dnf remove kernel*6.0.15*
Doing so will require you to boot to a different kernel before it can be removed.
Then you would need to verify the name of the inttf repo with dnf repolist.
Once you know that name the kernel reinstall would be dnf upgrade --refresh --disablerepo=<reponame> where the reponame would be that found out from the repolist you just did.

Hmmm. So that dint work but my NVIDIA drivers are gone now and I can do everything again. any idea why?

what did not work?.
One step at a time. did you boot to an older kernel then remove the 6.0.15 kernel packages?

yes but that did not fix my problem. But when I was in nouveau it did indeed work.

Near midnight here so must hurry before I lay down for the night.
Right, one step at a time.

What is the output of dnf repolist? and dnf list installed kernel

also I got this when booting into nouveau

You only have one kernel installed? and it is not a fedora kernel.

Again, one step at a time.
I do not see the inttf repo so this should work.
dnf install kernel*6.0.15* --exclude=*debug*

If that tries to pull in the inttf packages again they must be coming from rpmsphere

Yes that did work thanks!

So do you now have the fedora 6.0.15 kernel installed, booted, with both the nvidia drivers and wifi + bluetooth working?

Is audio also working?

Assuming all that is working, now the next fix is to remove that old 6.1.0 kernel so normal updates can take place.

After you verify that you are booted to the 6.0.15 kernel with uname -r then dnf remove kernel*6.1.0* will remove that kernel for you so normal fedora updates can continue to keep things working.
