Problem with Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 Wifi 7 with the latest firmware on FC42

Hi,

I am using FC42 and there is a problem with the latest atheros-firmware (20250509-1.fc42).
I have a Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 Wifi 7, and after updating, the card won’t work anymore.
I got those error messages :

May 16 23:00:53 tuchanka kernel: ath12k_pci 0000:0e:00.0: failed to receive wmi unified ready event: -110
May 16 23:00:53 tuchanka kernel: ath12k_pci 0000:0e:00.0: failed to start core: -110
May 16 23:00:53 tuchanka kernel: failed to send QMI message
May 16 23:00:53 tuchanka kernel: ath12k_pci 0000:0e:00.0: qmi failed to send mode request, mode: 4, err = -5
May 16 23:00:53 tuchanka kernel: ath12k_pci 0000:0e:00.0: qmi failed to send wlan mode off

I reverted to the previous version of the firmware and it works again : atheros-firmware-20250311-1.fc42.noarch

Regards.

I had the same problem on my Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 5. This fixed it. Thx!!

Another tip:
If you get annoyed by the system trying to reinstall that broken version at every update attempt, add
“exclude=atheros-firmware-20250509-1.fc42” to
/etc/dnf/dnf.conf.

Hi,

That’s what I’ve done for now.

Regards.
