Problem with performance drop on the 4k monitor

Hi,
I have a problem with performance drops on a 4k monitor. I’m using an Acer Nitro 5 laptop (specs in the photo) with dual boot (Windows 11 and Fedora Workstation 36). When I use the laptop in 1920x1080 resolution, everything works fine. When I connect an additional 4k monitor, the performance drops immediately, there is a delay when moving the cursor and writing. In my opinion, everything works at around 30Hz even though the monitor is set to 60Hz. I will add that everything works fine on Windows. I use the Wayland desktop, there are even worse performance drops on Xorg. Thank you for your help.

gnome’s mutter has weak performance. Try using kde/kwin.

Many systems at present seem to only support 4k at 30 Hz. It also seems that one monitor at 60 Hz or higher and one at 30 Hz can present a problem.

I have no clue as to what may be a fix, but surely the developers are aware of the issue and are diligently working on it.

As noted, a work-around may be as simple as switching the DE or DM you are using.
