Problem with DEI

Ahh, we’re past “let’s leave politics out of our project” now – thankfully, the US government doesn’t dictate how the Fedora Project is run.

Your apparent lack of understanding what “DEI” or “woke” mean (beyond their use as a right-wing scarecrow) is more than telling. As an older, able-bodied white male, I reject your derogatory insults against large parts of our community and the good work they do.

I would suggest you read Code of Conduct :: Fedora Docs

It’s fair to discuss many things, that doesn’t mean every way to do so is acceptable. Also, I never argued against political expression – usually it’s the crowd aligning with your stance here doing so, by painting the exclusionary status quo as “nonpolitical” in an attempt to shut down any attempt to overcome systemic exclusion because it would be “political and beyond the scope of open source projects” or something similar. Your feeble attempts to stir up drama and vilify our efforts in this area are as obvious as they are unwelcome.

Cancel culture, what a vibe…

Sometimes I wonder if the likes of you even listen to yourself.

You’ve taken my reply’s out of context, the first was in reference to the Forbes article, the second pointed to your attempt to confuse and shutdown the discussion, and this reply was to expose your attempt again with “the likes of you”. Nice!

This topic is temporarily closed for at least 4 hours due to a large number of community flags.

This is the first time in my time as mod that the system has closed a topic automatically just because of so many flags :frowning:

@soconfused this is a warning: if you again start to attack other people or other people’s work, a suspension will be imposed to give you some time to read the code of conduct. I suggest - again - to read the code of conduct. It does not add any value to anyone (including yourself) to provoke and engage in fights or determine the own opinion as “truth”. It is fine to have different opinions, and I have no problem with opinions that are against DEI programs - but being nice and respectful is gold and is the only useful foundation for constructive discussions.

Especially the latter sentence counts for everyone: its fine to have a different opinion and to put it into discussion, but attacking or describing others’ work as “idiocracy” (or comparable) is not an acceptable or constructive means.

Since the only achievement of this topic is a record amount of flags, I make the system’s closing permanently… You are free to open new topics, but engage in discussions constructively and with respect of others and their work and their opinions …
