Problem of files disappearing when transferring between windows and fedora

Hello,

I’m an artist. I installed fedora in dual boot with windows. On windows I had a folder containing 3d sculpture files and other drawings. On windows I have norton anti virus and there was bitloocker. When I installed fedora, I deactivated bitloocker and then created a folder with veracrypt to store my creations. I then cut and pasted the Windows partition and noticed that my folder was only 1.9 gigabytes in size. All the folders making up my main folder were emptied of their contents… I tried with a folder containing music and there was no problem. I ran a scan with Norton’s “super power” function, but it didn’t detect anything abnormal. Then, for fun, I encrypted Windows with veracrypt and the dualboot worked. I’m still pretty disgusted. I wish you a good day.

Please remove the deepl merchandise when you write or edit posts. It is classified as spam by our system. Also, foreign merchandise does not belong here. I know that deepl in some cases adds this to the information you copy/paste from there, so I know that you didn’t add this by yourself (no worries :classic_smiley: ), but please remove it in future when you use their translations here.

Also, you should emphasize on facts & relevant information in your formulations. Being disgusted doesn’t add value.

Further, although I am not sure if I fully understand your issue, keep in mind that your question looks like it leaves the realms of “migrating from Windows to Fedora” and goes into the realms of handling issues within Windows. Of course I leave the question here, it’s ok to ask that in the given context, and hopefully, someone can help you. But there is a high chance that this topic remains unanswered as issue handling within Windows ain’t an emphasis in this forum.

Windows OneDrive moves files to the “cloud” and leaves some sort of link in the directory that Windows uses to restore the actual content “on demand”. If you want to liberate files from OneDrive you need to use Windows to copy them to another location such as an external drive.

Thank you for your answer but my folder wasn’t on the cloud. Normaly, this folder is on external disk because i have relative confidence and for the first time i do the folder on the picture. To be sure I deciphered windows again and cut and past with an another folder and there isn’t problem. I don’t know. Thank again for you answer.

As a friend told me it’s the 4th dimension. Have a nice day.
