The current cinnamon version seems to have a bug that leaves the session open when logging out, preventing the user from choosing any other session. Could the fedora devs please upgrade the cinnamon version? (Or at least fix the bug)

Oh, alright. Sorry for the question. I thought that since you put cinnamon in the repos you probably maintained that version for fedora but I was wrong.
I’m the fedora cinnamon maintainer (also an upstream cinnamon dev).
F44 has the latest 6.6.x version, I considered F43 as EOL once I moved to F44.
Fedora doesn’t write 99.9% of the code it uses.
So by your logic everything should be reported upstream.

Since you are the maintainer, here is the bug I am experiencing.
System: Fedora 44 KDE Edition
Installed Desktop Environments: KDE, Cinnamon, i3, and hyprland (from the cope repo)
Issue: logging out of cinnamon doesn’t close the session. Instead, Cinnamon moves to TTY2 (which can be accessed with Ctrl+Alt+F2) and the plasma login manager is shown in TTY1. When attempting to switch desktop environments from cinnamon to anything, e.g. hyprland/KDE, it opens cinnamon instead as the other DE cannot open since cinnamon is open
Rebooting instead of just logging out should allow opening a different DE with your new login.
Remember that logging out does not close the DE. The DE is still running to support the gui interface.
Personally I would create a VM for each new DE I wanted to use and install the spin that used that desktop into the VM.
It seems well known that different DEs sometimes interfere with the performance of other DEs and using multiple different DEs on a single installation may cause problems.
Using a VM keeps the software completely isolated from the host and avoids unanticipated interference.
Does the issue reproduce if you use lightdm/slick-greeter?, if it works file the issue against whatever display manager used.
Also if used, remove all third-party applets as I don’t support them.
Yes, the issue does reproduce with lightdm. And no, I do not use any third-party applets.
Note: Although rebooting allows me to choose any DE I want, it is very inconvenient since I use a hard drive.

A recent lightdm issue did cause some issues which was fixed before push to stable.

That could mean that the problem is with plasma login manager, in which case the problem is unrelated to Cinnamon.
Using a VM eliminates much of the time needed for booting the OS contained there since the host is already running.
