It’s been my experience with localization efforts in K8s, CNCF, and other communities that not enough people care about contributing to or using Hindi localization. Unlike native Bengali, Korean, Japanese, French, etc. speakers, who seem to feel a much stronger pull toward their native languages, the pace of contributing to and maintaining technical sites in those languages is often somewhat comparable to that of English. Even when 2 - 4 motivated contributors start a Hindi localization effort, the burden quickly falls on those few people, especially given the scarcity of new contributors. Eventually, their priorities change as well, and the effort becomes difficult to sustain.
I’ve repeatedly found Hindi l10n communities for technical sites of larger communities to be nearly inactive or eventually die out. Based on my experience, I don’t think it’s worth starting and maintaining a Hindi localization effort.
I looked and found the place to define these tags, but I don’t see how it’s doing the mapping / display between english and the other language. Perhaps the tag is just created with the other language and it automatically translates it to english? But that seems pretty error prone…
Well, I tried that and I don’t think it’s set right. (Although you all can confirm)
On my side, it looks a bit different. When I search for a language tag, I see Greek, Hindi, and other language tags, but the translation of that tag only appears after I click on the tag not along with arrow like shown above. I’m not sure why that’s happening, but I think you only meant to check the Hindi language tag, which is now showing correctly.
I’m on desktop, and I just tried searching for the Hindi tag using both the search icon and the Tags option. In both cases, it looks like this on my end.
Then you get both. I guess someone who knows a bit English can read hindi in English. For us with now knowledge with the hindi characters it looked bad the other way around.
Edit:
If you use hindi in a other Category it tells you where it is available:
