Plasmashell not starting
Apparently the update to Plasma 6.7 did not work with fedora automatic update on and breaks the os.
Doing a manual dnf update -y did install plasma properly.
Plasma update with automatic updates is faulty.
I just sponsored KDE to make sure this does not happen again. Scratch that: sponsering no longer works: “An unexpected error occurred.”
You will find that the command line tools more reliable for updating your system when the GUI tools based on PackageKit like Discover.
This is mostly because when something does go wrong you will have detailed error messages that you can use to understand why an update is not going to work.
I tend to use dnf update --refresh to make sure the metadata is fully up to date.
How true as that might be, when starting my PC I’m never that interested in troubleshooting. And aren´t those tools just fe for command lines?
What would be good moment of the day to do that?
What the command does is first update the metadata then updates the packages.
I have multiple systems and VM’s running Fedora and experienced different updates on some instances. Using refresh has made updates consistent across systems.
