[Pitch] #CommitHistory Interview Series - 7 Articles Ahead of Flock 2026

Hi everyone! I’m Ananya Nalavathu, Community Architect intern, and I have 7 articles lined up for the #CommitHistory Campaign ahead of Flock 2026.

These are speaker interviews with confirmed Flock 2026 speakers - Jef Spaleta, Aleksandra Fedorova, Jona Azizaj, Petr Bokoc, and more - about their Fedora journeys and what Flock means to them.

I’d like to publish 4 of them next week and the remaining 3 the week after. All drafts are being loaded into WordPress today. Featured images are ready too!

Would love to get these on the editors radar. Thanks!

You’ve succeeded. Thanks! :slightly_smiling_face:

We usually make one ticket per article here in this kanban so we can keep track of which articles are published and which ones need to be reviewed and scheduled. I’ll let Richard decide if that is required in this case.

@ananya I think it would be reasonable to do these in two proposals. One proposal for the first group of 4 and one for the second group of 3.

Instructions for creating the proposals are available at Contributing as a Fedora Magazine Writer.

Creating a proposal will open a Discourse topic at the Kanban board where we will track the articles.

When you have a set of articles ready for preview, make certain that you leave a reply on the Discourse topic with the WordPress preview links for all of them as well as the date you would like them published.

Note that Featured images should be JPEG files 1890x800 pixels in size.

@ananya Since you provided the first article in WP, I’ve done an edit pass on it. I modified a few sentences for length and voice, nothing major, but I did have one question.

In the first paragraph you write " As part of the “CommitHistory” campaign,…". Is this campaign described some place that this can be linked to? Or, perhaps explained in an internal note on the article? I may have missed something where this campaign was announced but I may not be alone and an explanation would be good.

Also, I hope to see the two pitches that describe the remaining articles (very briefly) so we can track them and ensure that we have them edited and published.

Hi Richard!

Thank you so much for the edit pass. I really appreciate it!

I apologise for the confusion I realised I hadn’t published the #CommitHistory campaign launch post yet, which should have gone live before the speaker articles. I’ve drafted it and it’s ready to go. Here’s the draft link: https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=15740&action=edit

Would it be possible to get this published today so I can link it in all the speaker articles? That way readers will have the full context of the campaign!

All interview articles will be fully ready by end of day today as well.

I’ll also get the remaining pitches up shortly. Sorry for the oversight!

@ananya that draft post is in the WordPress communityblog instance not the WordPress Fedora Magazine instance.

The magazine instance is here:
https://fedoramagazine.org/wp-admin/edit.php

Did you intend that? If not can you move it quickly?
I don’t edit rights on the community blog. So I can’t edit or publish there.

Hey Richard!

Ah, yes - I’ve shifted it over to Fedora Magazine now.

Would you be able to please review and publish it when you have a chance? I’d really appreciate it. If there are any modifications needed before it can go live, please let me know and I’ll update them straight away.

Thank you so much for your help!

I’ve just red the first two articles, and I’m wondering if and how much AI was used to write or edit them?

It would be great to put some direct quotes from the people, and to flesh out the posts to more magazine length - or to combine them into one bigger article.

Hey @theprogram, let’s chat more about the article series in the Fedora Magazine Matrix room! Ananya has been running the interviews for a few weeks and working with me to vet the content drafts. We have made a few edits here and there, and some more feedback on making the series more engaging would be great!

@ananya An update on progress:
Articles for Valentin and Jef have been published.
Those for Aleksandra, Akashdaeep, and Jona are edited and scheduled for the 4th, 5th and 8th of June, respectively.
