Hey guys,
first of all, I’m new here to this forum and also a beginner in using Linux (have been using it for 10 months now). I was able to find out the most stuff by doing google research. However, this time I ran into an issue with pipewire and I’m not able to solve it.
What did I do:
I have a fresh installation of fedora 42 on my second computer. According to the tutorial here → https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tymRFhUiXVQ I created a virtual surround sink. When I plug in my headphone to the USB port and select my headphone as audio device, I can hear sound. When I switch to the new virtual surround sink I can’t hear anything.
I did the same thing to my first computer which has actually the same hardware. On this machine it works flawlessly. The only thing I can remember what is different is that on the first computer I installed Fedora 41 and upgraded afterwards to 42.
I did a lot of research using google to figure out why it is not working on my second computer. Then I noticed the following log from pipewire using
journalctl -xe |grep pipewire
Okt 27 13:54:24 fedora pipewire[1667]: Can't open any sample file (CWD /home/me):
Okt 27 13:54:24 fedora pipewire[1667]: failed file /home/me/.config/pipewire/atmos.wav: Format not recognised.
Okt 27 13:54:24 fedora pipewire[1667]: spa.filter-graph: cannot create plugin instance 0 rate:48000: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
Okt 27 13:54:24 fedora pipewire[1667]: pw.stream: 0x5583dfbc4660: error (-2) can't start graph: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
Okt 27 13:54:24 fedora pipewire[1667]: pw.node: (effect_input.virtual-surround-7.1-hesuvi-36) start node error -2: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
Sorry for posting it partially in german. “Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden” means that the computer was not able to find file or directory.
I have absolutely no idea what to do right now. The file and folder do exist. As mentioned before, on my other computer it works perfectly.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance!
