Panel power savings not activating until suspend/resume (ThinkPad T14s Gen 4 AMD, Fedora 42)

Hi all,

I’m experiencing an issue with panel power savings on my ThinkPad T14s Gen 4 (AMD) running Fedora 42 with the latest kernel (6.14.9).

When you set the power mode to Power Saver in GNOME Settings, the AMD panel power savings don’t activate.

However, tuned correctly writes the panel power savings value of 3 (when set to Power Saver) to:
/sys/class/drm/card1-eDP-1/amdgpu/panel_power_savings

The expected effect of reduced color saturation associated with a value of 3 only takes effect after a suspend and resume cycle.

Is this a known issue with recent kernels?
For reference, this was working as expected on Fedora 41, and the issue only began when I upgraded to Fedora 42.

Thanks in advance for any insights.
