Package updates not showing package installation size

I have Fedora 44 Installed in a virtual machine (Hyper V).

When fedora shows the notification that there are new updates,
the update size shows as unknown.

Only after I attempted to refresh the updates again, did the correct size show.

Here are my system specs

Operating System: Fedora Linux 44
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.30.0
Qt Version: 6.11.2
Kernel Version: 7.2.7-200.fc44.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 8 × AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 8-Core Processor
Memory: 4 GiB of RAM (10.5 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: llvmpipe
Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation
Product Name: Virtual Machine
System Version: Hyper-V UEFI Release v4.1

Probably when background services check for updates they only download the metadata to notify you that the updates are available, they might not calculate the download size and that metadata is cached hence showing Unknown
And after the refresh the actual size is computed.

you are guessing how this works? I don’t this your guess is correct.

At least on f45 discover this is not true. It knows the sizes before download begins.

Maybe you are right, my guess is incorrect.
I asked chat gpt it told that this is a known bug, and the link
