I had flawless connections untill an upgrade rocked my bluetooth world. (kernel upgrade)
My steps taken and I hope they work for you as well:
sudo systemctl stop bluetooth
sudo rmmod btusb
sudo modprobe btusb
sudo systemctl start bluetooth
Not sure if all that was needed but none the less it worked, but I have 2 deviices as seen here:
bluetoothctl

You may also find a hint with systemctl status bluetooth
