NVMe M.2 drive appears in BIOS, but not in Fedora

Well, I thought I could figure this one out myself, but apparently not. I’m on a slightly modified Dell XPS 8920 (all I did was replace the RAM, and maybe the HDD, but I have no idea and that shouldn’t affect this), and the NVMe M.2 drive (I believe from Crucial? I bought it years ago) that I plugged into its M.2 SSD (iirc that’s how it’s labeled on the motherboard) slot simply isn’t appearing in Fedora. I tried lsblk, both with sudo and --all, and it never appeared there. I never found it in /dev either. I tried again in this month’s Arch ISO, and got the same results. (fear not, I’m sticking with Fedora, I don’t have the energy for Arch anymore)

This probably just seems like a case of a busted drive, except it was working ten minutes before, when I took it out of my other computer to put in this one (long story). It worked fine in that, a homemade gaming-but-now-NixOS-server PC.

The odd thing is that the drive appears in the Dell’s BIOS. It passed all the diagnostic tests (except one that only appeared for it and not the HDD, that not only refused to run, it acted like it didn’t even exist. weird), and there were no detectable problems elsewhere in the BIOS (although I’ll admit to not running the full several-hours-long memory test).

Before this drive, there was a 16gb M.2 SSD in that slot that also never appeared. It came with the computer back when I first got it, who knows how long ago.

My fpaste is as follows, and I have to admit, I didn’t think to check journalctl until looking through this, but I’d bet that those errors are involving the broken drive. Of course, I could be completely mistaken, kernel error messages are not my forte.

(I hope I did all this properly! I’m more than happy to provide more information if necessary)

You are on a little older machine.
What is the SATA config in bios?
For a time and for some systems if that was RAID then fedora could not see the drive.
If possible try switching the SATA config from RAID to AHCI and see if that makes a difference..

It was RAID last I checked. I’ll go try changing it.
