Nvidia-settings incomplete - Wayland

Hello Fedora community, I have a question. I believe I installed the Nvidia drivers correctly on my laptop running Fedora 43, Gnome 49, but I don’t understand why nvidia-settings is limited; it doesn’t have all the menus like the version that ran on Xorg 11. Does anyone know if this is normal when using Wayland?

Yes, this is normal.

Nvidia says:

  • nvidia-settings will not offer same level of configuration.
    • There is no cross-compositor method for configuration that would allow nvidia-settings to manage displays on Wayland as it does on X11. nvidia-settings will still provide details about the system and power usage.

@pg-tips Could you, or someone who knows, please post a picture of the nvidia settings?

Mine look the same as the screenshot you posted.

Okay! So, do you know if there’s any information on whether the Fedora maintainers will fix the nvidia-settings tool to make it fully functional? Since it currently only allows it to work with Wayland?

As per the link in my earlier post, this is how Nvidia intend the application to function.

It isn’t packaged by Fedora (you likely got it from RPMFusion), but it isn’t really something that downstream maintainers can patch.
