When I attempt to install Downloads/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-595.58.03.run

You appear to be running an X server. Installing the NVIDIA driver while X is running is not recommended, as doing so may prevent the installer from
detecting some potential installation problems, and it may not be possible to start new graphics applications after a new driver is installed. If you choose
to continue installation, it is highly recommended that you reboot your computer after installation to use the newly installed driver.

Can I at all install these? Is there something I should backup in case I want to go back?

You can, I wouldn’t recommend it.

You would need to logout and switch to a VT to install it, I recommend doing a full backup as the nvidia .run file is likely to overwrite system file (BAD!!).

That .run file seems to be the package directly from nvidia. It is proprietary and we cannot assist very much with that installation, nor with problems when it is used.

We always recommend that you install nvidia driver packages from the rpmfusion repos since they have been tweaked, packaged, and tested to function properly on fedora.

Please note also that the 595 driver appears to be held for installation with f44 when it is released, and the 580 driver appears to be intended as the last driver for release with f43.
