Note to myself: gaming on Fedora Sway

  1. install sway.x86_64 i3-compatible window manager for Wayland

  2. enable Vulkan:

Edit /usr/share/wayland-sessions/sway.desktop and add:

Exec=env WLR_RENDERER=vulkan sway
  1. Edit ~/.config/sway/config and add:
output HDMI-A-2 resolution 3840x2160 hdr on # scale 1.5

workspace_layout tabbed
  1. enter Sway session in GDM and check:
~> swaymsg -t get_outputs
Output HDMI-A-2 'LG Electronics LG TV SSCR2 0x01010101' (focused)
Current mode: 3840x2160 @ 120.000 Hz
Power: on
Position: 0,0
Scale factor: 1.000000
Scale filter: nearest
Subpixel hinting: unknown
Transform: normal
Workspace: 1

  1. Enjoy seamless gaming, no stutter, no Gnome issues, better FPS, more free RAM, no notifications

I add “sway” into the topic title to help other find your notes
