Nobara user evaluating moving to fedora

I know this isn’t a support forum to other distros (even if they are based on fedora) and I’m not here to ask for help on that matter, I just wish to know if the recurrent screen freezes with nvidia are also present on fedora 41 (1 or both screens are literally frozen while the computer keeps working regularly in background), if it’s a nobara issue only I may switch to fedora for good.
My hardware: r7 3700x, 32gb ram, rtx 3080.
Kernel 6.11.8-200, nvidia drivers 565.57.01 .

Which desktop do you want to use?
Do you use Wayland or require X11?

I would like to stay on KDE with Wayland.

I assume that this may also happen on Fedora. If nobara uses a custom kernel maybe not

Hi F.nixiam,

I had the same issue, it is related to the version of Nvidia driver that you are using.

What has worked for me:

  1. download the nvidia drivers from Nvidia web site
  2. completely uninstall any other Nvidia driver
  3. build and install the driver from Nvidia

My current setup is running on kernel 6.11.8 with Nvidia driver 550.135.

Well in that case switching to fedora won’t fix anything. Thank you for letting me know… I’ll simply wait for a fix from nvidia.
