No sound

Hi everyone, my friend is running Fedora and says no sound devices are detected. He’s using the onboard audio jacks; his CPU has no iGPU, and HDMI is handled by his NVIDIA GPU. He’s using Edifier speakers with the akmod-nvidia driver installed.

Please post the output of inxi -Fzxx, you may have to install inxi, sudo dnf install inxi.

Also the output of lsusb and lspci.

Post as pre-formatted text, not screen shots.

With that info we should be able to suggest what is happening.

We had another issue last night with Cannon Lake audio not working. (this post has a Comet Lake).

Gigabyte motherboard too. More likely a firmware issue with the CPU though.

I have the same issue on a Asus Z390-E Gaming mainboard, running Fedora 44 with kernel 6.19.10-300.

Using kernel 6.19.11-300 there is sound and all audio devices are recognized, however nvidia drivers on my pc using this kernel do not work, they work only with 6.19.10.300.

@hankon if you have the kernel 6.19.11-300 installed, can you try if the sound devices are recognized and working ? maybe it will be easier for the developers to fix the issue.
