As i understand that is just a workaround. Your system user with which you install fedora nowadays has ID 1000, Id’s below that are considered root or accounts for services.

Next time while updating, you will again run into an issue when the system searches for user ID equal 1000.
Best is to search in the change log when fedora changed it and with which procedure. This you could then set as solution!

I had this problem many years ago when updating version. Now I don’t remember how I solved it, but in essence I had to change my user ID from 500 to 1000 and the change the permission of all files in my home directories.

Maybe I had to do a clean install, but vaguely remember a procedure for changing user ID. It could be to create a new user with ID 1000 and move all files through changing permission and then delete the old user.
