No option --alloc-start in mkfs.btrfs to offset the filesystem

Does anyone know why option -A (–alloc-start) to specify the offset of a btrfs filesystem is not available in mkfs.btrfs on Fedora? A pretty important option that some distros reference as part of mkfs.btrfs.
