No actual audio playing unless device is disconnected and reconnected

Whenever I boot up my computer no audio plays out of my headset until I disconnect and reconnect their USB cable. Before doing this they do show as available audio playback and recording devices. According to the computer, they are even playing properly. Unsure if related, but after a while audio does crash as well. Best case scenario the Sound - System Settings is just empty or unresponsive. Worst case is the entire desktop crashes. Already open windows still respond and I am able to open the terminal with shortcuts. In these cases restarting pipewire and pipewire-pulse gets the rest of the system responsive again although still no audio. One time was able to read a notification of Xwayland crashing before entire system decided to crash.
