Newest update to KDE Connect breaks GSconnect connection

KDE Connect on android pushed update 1.33.0 in the last day or two that stops GSconnect from seeing my android. Initially I thought it was an issue with tailscale, which has been on my phone for months but I hadn’t applied to this desktop until a few days ago, but I ruled it out by removing from my desktop.

I confirmed the issue by removing KDE Connect from my phone and downloading the previous update, 1.32.11 from APKmirror, and installed it using the apkmirror app (beta) from the play store, issue resolved for now.

They added changes to the key pairing mechanism

Please ask on discuss.kde.org or even better open an issue on gsconnect

To test this I unpaired and paired and everything worked on the old and new versions of the android app. I paired on the 1.32 version and it keep working after I upgraded to the 1.33 version.

The versions I have installed on Fedora end are:

kdeconnectd-24.12.2-1.fc41.aarch64
kde-connect-24.12.2-1.fc41.aarch64

Given what @boredsquirrel found I wonder if pairing “fixed” things?
You could try to unpair and pair again to see if this makes it work.

The reason that I unpaired is that since I setup kdeconnect I have renamed the hosts on my home network and wanted to use the new names in the experiment.

I think I saw that the old names had a “.” in them but that is not allowed in the new naming, but I’m not sure about this.
