I started using Linux about two weeks ago, with the intention of eventually switching to it altogether. So far Fedora has been a great fit. I switched from Kubuntu and wanted to see what KDE on Fedora would look like, so I installed it. I quickly realized how much more I liked GNOME so I ran:
sudo dnf uninstall @kde-desktop
After that GNOME looked kind of broken so I crossed my fingers and rebooted, now the WiFi does not work.
Looking around I found this Uninstalled KDE and now my WiFi doesn't work in GNOME but I don’t have the background to understand how to do this. Is there a way to check to see if GNOME needs other dependencies that I uninstalled alongside KDE?
I know I could just simply reinstall the OS since I haven’t used it much, but I think its important for me to treat this like a learning experience. Please let me know any commands you want me to run.

I don’t know for how much time you are in linux but in my experience installing DE is far more easier than remove it completly and now it become more harder so if you can reinstall with your liked os.iso spinsshell or swap you can use shell to remove de and install with groupsKde to gnome(workstation) sudo dnf swap @kde-desktop-environment @workstation-product-environmentWorkstation to kde sudo dnf swap @workstation-product-environment @kde-desktop-environmentdnf group install “Fedora Workstation”

To clarify I installed vanilla Fedora + GNOME, then I added KDE and then removed KDE. I want to stick to using GNOME, its simple and it works (plus uses much lower system resources) and that’s pretty much all I need right now.
I booted into Fedora and the WiFi seems to be working just fine, I checked /etc/dnf/protected.d and there doesnt seem to be any mention of KDE.
cd /etc/dnf/protected.d → ls prints:
dnf.conf grub2-efi-x64.conf shim.conf
Which to me looks like KDE is gone.
Would there be any way to check if KDE took away some things that GNOME needs or should I just wait for something to break? If I update to Fedora 36 will this matter anyways since GNOME 42 is coming out soon?

Perhaps something needed was removed, or perhaps KDE just turned off something that GNOME needed. It is difficult to say without more information.
You can do dnf history list and dnf history info to see what actually was removed when you took out @kde-desktop, and maybe with that list it will be clearer to us what the problem might be.

That’s actually a strategy I’ve used many times when I want to prune my installation – I wait until just before a new release to delete things that I think I no longer need or want and then I run the release update and let it pull back in any important dependencies that I may have deleted if I was overly aggressive in my pruning.
Edit to add: But yeah, I’ve also learned that adding --noautoremove to dnf remove <whatever> can be important to prevent surprising things from getting removed. I think there was some talk about improving DNF’s “weak dependency” management in the upcoming release.

Sometimes after i reboot the WiFi is broken on the other OS. I’m going to look into how to manually disable and reenable the card using the terminal, it might rediscover the wireless card.

I think this is more likely the problem. There are other questions here that are about similar things. You should see if you can disable Fast Boot, I think it’s called.

If this package available jn your system if not install that.
I have seen posts that indicate if wifi is disabled in windows the device may be hard blocked in linux and that for some devices the only way to unblock it is to enable it in windows before shutdown. That status can be seen with the rfkill command.
I have fast boot disabled, but good suggestion. I have to do more experimenting but I think that if I reboot then the WiFi breaks, but if I shut down and power on the WiFi works.
I ran the search and I have:
NetworkManager-wifi-1.32.12-2.fc35.x86_64
which seems like what I need.
rfkill shows that its unblocked, and WiFi works on Fedora now. I’ll check when it stops working.
