New on Fedora but not totally new to Linux

I am really enjoying being on Fedora so how did I make it to Fedora like why Fedora.

I am into Photography really enjoy the challenges it brings especially having my main interest based in Wildlife photography it always makes things interesting in due to how wildlife never just does with what you want it to nature does with what it wants not with what you want it to do.
I was sitting around one day trying to work on just uploading a few photos fast on windows 10 and of course there was an update ten minutes went by at this point as it of course went into a full out update taking over my OS putting itself into a full out reboot. After fifteen good minutes of this I was finally able to upload my photos but nope wait lets send you a nice big pop up asking you to Yeap you guessed it upgrade to windows 11 now click here to get your key and upgrade now.
It was at that point I lost it I was done. Now close to a hour has past and I am still just trying to get a few what was supposed to be quick get on get my new photos uploaded with all my others and get off.
My first choice was to of course go with my old trusty SuSE so Tumbleweed it was for a few days and found really not as hard as when I first tried out Linux when I had a Linux 7.3 install that took me dam near a month to get operating right back then with all the hardware it was on back then on my Athlon T bird.
Tumbleweed took me a little over a day to get good and operational but I of course always wanted to try out Debian so I installed Debian.
Of course I was having a few problems here and there nothing real big but still some bugs that were driving me nuts so I ended up getting the bright idea of trying out Red Hat Enterprise Server 10 which of course installed flawlessly no bugs no real problems everything was smooth but of course I only had a thirty day trial and at best it was not a full key access where I could install things on the OS I had installed.
After a long awaited debate in my head I was like hey why don’t I just install Fedora of course you all should know why I came up with this conclusion. I guess I can say the rest was history other than a quick try with a Kali linux install both my studio and my laptop are now running Fedora on them.
I really like security which is why I was toying around a bit with Kali Linux on my laptop but came to the conclusion that I should probably get to know Linux more and have a better understanding of it before I go and try to start working with Kali Linux.
I hope to try to get in with the community here and I hope to be able to help in some way though I am not a programmer.
I have administered some Game servers years ago when I was in a computer gaming shooter clan which we had a Battle field Vietnam server we ran Battlefield 2 a Call of Duty server an Americas army server and a Medal of honour server all which I was able to control through Cpannel which I had full access to so I could change the server maps for people things like that.
I also helped my cousin out years ago with his Gaming website we both spent time running for cheat codes in games back then stuff like that I don’t even know if I would know where to start now though it has been that many years.
Well don’t want to ramble so I will sign off for now hope to see you all on the forums.

Depending on how deep down the rabbit hole with this you want to go, you might find these links interesting:

A lot of this will probably be overkill if you just want to run a hobbyist website, but it might give you a place to start looking. :+1:

Welcome to Fedora!

Welcome!

I’m no great photographer but I love seeing the amazing and beautiful wildlife photos that I see people achieve!

Totally overkill for me as my goal is to work on my photography to hopefully one day become known enough that it will keep me going.
I was actually toying with the idea of looking into Security breach testing and being able to bring forth solutions to would be customers. Basically as a full out security breech tester you are hired to try to hack into mainframes and company system infrastructure legally as you have all documentation and legal stuff figured out and you always get things signed in writing first.
Once in of course a report is done to the company telling them where the breaching was done and usually you are trained in Securing systems which then you tell your client as to how you would go about fixing it finding solutions for them for there backbone so actual would be Black hat hackers are not able to breech there systems to steal data money passwords root access ect.
Is it hard being one? Yes very much so? The perks with being a good security breech tester. High $$$ cases where you are saving government offices Banks you name it billions of dollars in Revenue.

I have toyed with the idea of getting a website up but it is not on my top priority list right now as I am still working through all the things of how I am going to be different from just a photographer that takes photos dumps them into a big photo viewer center where people can go look at them steal the photos for desktop environments as well as anything else people seem to do these days.
I also know that things are really becoming hard for actual good photographers in due to everyone out there walking around with cameras on there phones.
I mean really who wants to pay money these days to photographers when people out there have all these recording devices themselves and they probably have hundreds of photos they have taken themselves.
That is where I want to be different and I want to be able to have actual interaction and face time with my clients as stated above I don’t want to be one of them boring photographers that sells you images that your probably going to either buy and forget about them or maybe you will as stated make a screen saver out of a few of them for a bit then forget about them.
How do I want to be different well I want to be able to give the client options of how they would like to see there images displayed in there house Weather it is a photo being printed onto a piece of Metal or maybe the client likes canvas and they want to see there newly bought photo put onto a canvas then framed.
Is this all that I talk about can it be actual reality like can it actually be done? The answer is yes I have access to a printer that can print on many different types of stock and that is all that it is for is for doing photo prints to top it off it isn’t just a couple thousand dollar printer either.
This printer I talk about was purchased for a little over fourty thousand dollars and it’s one and only job is to do photo prints.
Once I figure out how I want to bring this forth to the public eye in a website form is when I will start doing up a website as stated above I don’t want to be another one of them boring photographers I want to stand out.

Freelance white-hat hacker does sound like a cool job; one spent a couple months last year doing penetration testing and looking for exploits in the software at my work last year; nobody tasked him with it, he just started doing it one day. I don’t know how much the bounties were, but he definitely got some dough out of it, and we closed a few vulnerabilities.

Yeah I just like the idea of being a part of the solution and not a part of the problem. Myself my own bank I am a part of they were breached supposedly my account was one of them that was breached among thousands of other accounts at my bank.
After that day I really took note of it and really wanted to figure out how I could help others not just myself from that happening again. I know I am only one person but adding one more person that wants to help is all the more better.
I felt very violated and to this day I don't even trust the new tap system on the new bank cards we have going around being used. I always get my bank to disable the tap feature as I also know about card miners. So say your in a big chain store and you go to pay for your stuff and you wave your card over and tap your card.
With card mining a person can have the capture software on there phone you don't know who the person is but they are there standing just close enough to you that when you go to put your card in your wallet there phone goes towards your card just for a brief couple seconds which is enough time for them to capture everything they need to go make purchases afterward.

If you do not have a cap on your account who knows how much money they would be able to drain from your account before you even know about it. All as they need is just time so if you do have this feature enabled on your card just watch around you and watch for how close people are to you especially if there out holding there phone which allot of people do these days.
There are several names for this allot of banks in my area call it phishing but there is other ways of capture.
One of the worst ones right now is using your phone for purchases I see allot of people doing it and I always say in the back of my head to myself I wonder if they even know how dangerous that purchase they just did could be to there own security.
We all have choices we make in life and some of this new technology honestly does scare me allot as there is always those that are out there praying on the weak as well as uniformed individuals.
