Please upgrade to glib2 2.86.0-2 to resolve this critical bug that renders Nautilus nearly unusable, I’m unable to open most folders on my system.
A workaround that I can confirm is to edit ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs and make sure XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="$HOME/Templates".
For your information, this would be a package downgrade not an upgrade..
Following the bug report that you linked, the fix will appear in nautilus 49.1-2
See also nautilus bug report: Making sure you're not a bot!
in the meantime, until the new build hits the repo, you can use the workaround above or use the nightly flatpak for nautilus from Gnome flatpak repo:
app/org.gnome.Nautilus.Devel/x86_64/master

Hi, the version component after the - is “release” which is distro-specific. You can’t compare Arch releases to Fedora revisions.
There’s a proposal to fix this Making sure you're not a bot! but it hasn’t been accepted yet.
So that’s why only certain users are experiencing the issue (given that the default path for XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR is $HOME/Templates on current systems).
Hi Michael, the workaround works more or less, but I have to manually reapply those changes after every reboot. Is there a link where I can track the status of this bug on Fedora? Thanks!
fix has been pushed to updates-testing
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-d4568091b0
I’m on Silverblue so not possible to apply it, I hope it will arrive soon
Thanks for the it works for me.
Check if you have the Templates folder in home directory, if not create it then logout and log back in.
The update has arrived, thanks!!
For future reference you should be able to use the below on atomic variants:
rpm-ostree override replace https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-d4568091b0
Just replace the bodhi link with what you’d like to update.
