My game (Genshin impact) installs itself but doesn't launch

Hello everyone,

Is there anyone who suceeded going past the launcher and the install ?

I’ve tried it in (in chronological order) :
Proton app
Lutris
Bottles
Heroic Launcher

And I don’t know why, I can reach the launcher, click on Install and download the game. But afterwards, no matter the settings I try, once I click on the Launch button to start the game, it quits the window, does nothing for few seconds… and reopens the launcher window. I don’t have to redownload the game fortunately, but it does a loop. I can’t get past this.

Does someone else play it too and found good settings both in Winecfg (if necessary) or in the settings of any of the apps to get it running ? I tried Heroic because it seems it seems working for other people, same for Lutris, but nothing.

I can tell it’s at least not a Wine or Bottles issue, because I could sucessfully install two programs in Bottles for drawing/editing (Photofiltre, Sketchbook). And in other apps (emulators for GBA and Nintendo DS) I could play as I used to on my older PCs and even could set the moves up with my Switch Pro Controller.

In case it can give a clue, here is my fastfetch :

It’s quite puzzling why it would work up to the Launch button and then not. Maybe it’s not well supported anymore, yet it seems it was only few months ago because I got recent results when I googled… But no settings from my search worked.

Since it’s a heavy install (90+ GB) I erased every install that didn’t work. I only kept the last one, on Heroic Launcher. Since it’s a laptop which isn’t meant for gaming initially, maybe it’s just that too.

Thanks in advance for any advice !

Okay never mind, it’s Hoyoverse who apparently issues a check before logging to the game, which prevents anyone using proton to enter apparently. All I had to do was to unplug my ethernet cable before pressing the Launch button and replug it once I was in the game. My computer then lacked ram and froze but  at least it worked.

I had the clue thanks to the person who made this tutorial and who issued/pinned a comment recently about this issue : https://youtu.be/q3V_n7oVRRo?si=BthijfSW9FI3vIKz

Idk why I had problems with Heroic recognising my game afterwards. I may retry with the other softwares though, now that I know that it’s not a Proton/Bottles issue!

And again. I’m not surprised if I easily lack ram, it’s not a gaming computer initially. I’m just glad that the general thing of ‘Use Proton to play games’ is working regardless, I was worried about that part rather.
