with the update to F43 / GNOME 49, I decided to give the new Document Viewer “Papers” a try. So far, I like the update of the UI in comparison to Evince.
What bothers me:
I like to display some documents in “Dual” mode and have them show the entire page at once, i. e. maximized in the window. That implies deactivation of the setting “Continuous“. Previously, in Evince, I could now scroll through the document with the mouse wheel. It would just flick to the next set of pages.
That doesn’t work in Papers.
I have to activate “Continuous“ to be able to scroll with the mouse wheel. But now, scrolling moves the document line by line – which is tedious in large documents.
Scrolling with mouse wheel (or touchpad) in Dual mode is still there in Papers as well, but with a caveat: you have to place the mouse cursor on the box displaying the page number. No click necessary, but the cursor has to stay there while scrolling.
Scrolling through pages via keyboard works in the usual way.
