I too use 10-15 years old stuff and have an A10-7850k. Went to the same conclusions as you. In addition to that I had to cherry pick kernels as several were problematic. Had, however to release hold on mesa 2 weeks ago because wine depends on it.
All in all, I skipped some mesa versions but the recent one 25.1.7-1.fc42 works flawlessly for me.
Could be the firmware too that worth downgrading… I still have 20250509-1.fc42 and the current version is 20250808-1.fc42
Current kernels: 6.12.42-200.fc42.x86_64 longterm and 6.15.10-200.fc42.x86_64
Tomorrow is my update day. I see there are upgrades available for xorg-x11-drv-amdgpu and kernel-longterm-*. I guess will know whether it’s reliable in 2 days.
