Monitor falls asleep and does nto wake up

Fedora 43 XFCE spin.
Graphics card is GeForce GTX 1650 (TU116).
With xfce screensaver set, monitor went to sleep and did not wake up.
Monitor was connected via Displayport cable.
Switched to HDMI cable and problem cleared up. Many entries in /var/log/messages:

kernel: nouveau 0000:05:00.0: [drm] ERROR DP-1: invalid native reply 0x03

xfce4-screensaver-4.18.4-3.fc43.x86_64
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-1.0.17-13.fc43.x86_64

With that GPU I would suggest that you install the nvidia driver from rpmfusion.

This is happening with the 6.18.3 kernel release. As soon as I updated to this kernel.
I am experiencing it on an AMD and Intel system. Both onboard GPUs, HDMI output.

Thanks for the advice. The current Nvidia driver from rpmfusion has another, rather serious bug, which is why I went back to the Nouveau driver in the first place. That bug shows up on either F42 or F43 with Nvidia 580.119.02-1. At present I am using the Nvidia driver, but rolled back to 580.95.05-1. Since that’s a different bug I won’t go into it here. I did post a bug report on the Nvidia developer’s forum.

I have seen no indication of bugs in the 580.119.02 driver. There was one in the earlier 580.108.03 & 08 driver releases and that did require a rollback to the 580.95.05 driver for some users.

I am using the newest driver on my laptop with the GTX 1650 gpu.

Similar problem here on two computers, both with AMD CPUs, totally different chipset, bios, graphics and monitors.

I made a bug report with the full details: 2426980 – Unable to resume from sleep on TWO different computers, both running Fedora 43.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.
