Missing monitor after Fedora 44 upgrade

My system has two monitors, one attached to a NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 via an HDMI-DisplayPort adapter and the other attached to a NVIDIA Quadro P4000 directly through a DisplayPort. After upgrading from Fedora 43 to 44, the first monitor came back, flickered a lot, but has settled down and is now operational. The second monitor is not detected at all. The card is detected according to lspci, but the Display Settings app does not show a second monitor or the option to detect a second monitor. The monitor itself reports no signal detected.

I am using the nouveau drivers currently. I had the NVIDIA drivers in 43, but they seem to have been disabled in the upgrade.

The upgrade has probably given you the Nvidia version 595 drivers, which don’t support either of your cards.

You should be able to remove those, and install the new “580xx” packages which ensure your drivers won’t be upgraded beyond version 580 in future. Try this:

sudo dnf remove "*nvidia*" --exclude nvidia-gpu-firmware
sudo dnf install akmod-nvidia-580xx xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-580xx-cuda

Then wait a few minutes and reboot.

Exactly right, thanks!
