Minor random shutdown issue after upgrade to F44

Hello,

I’ve upgraded yesterday to Workstation 44 and it’s going mostly well, Gnome software had a loading issue but it seems fixed after some reinstall and cache cleaning.

What i have left is sometimes my laptop really takes time to shutdown, so i manually press the shutdown button after waiting some time. Or it eventually shut downs after 5 minutes, while before it shut down within 1 minute max.

When I press F4, it shows me the services getting shut down and I feel like the last service takes ages to do so. I attach the picture here.

So far, either waiting 5 minutes or waiting 2 + pressing the off button didn’t break anything so i just wanted to know if it’s something that happened to anybody else.

It doesn’t seem to be systematic either, sometimes it just works. And when I wanna restart/reboot, it seems doing it without this delay.

I’m celebrating my first whole year on Fedora in end of this May, I’m glad

And sorry if i panicked for nothing lol

looks like dnf5daemon is hanging, it’s a newly integrated (buggy) piece of software, so it could be worth reading out the logs and report the issue to the devs, so they can fix it.

Okay, can you remind me how to do that ? I got literally no issues for 6+ months so I forgot

A good place to refresh memory is: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/quick-docs/viewing-logs/. There are some other good tutorials if you can avoid AI clickbait nonsense.

/var/log has dnf logs.

No, that’s a different bug. This one is related to shutdown/reboot:

It doesn’t happen too often, but I also see it sometimes. Unfortunately it doesn’t have a solution yet. But you can press Ctrl+Alt+Del quickly at least 7 times to ignore the timeout and reboot immediately.

Thanks having showed me that one, it made me remove/uncheck some repos in my list that I never used ! It may have played a bit in this because now at least shutdown happens in a decent time like I had before the update.

Gnome software still takes a long moment to load but it eventually does after 5 minutes.

I noticed i have a lot of RPM repos, what’s the difference :

Between Free and Free Updates

Between Nonfree and Nonfree Updates

Maybe if there’s one or two which are unnecessary, i can unactivate them.

Edit : when gnome software is fully loaded it shut downs normally now. When i try to shut down my laptop before it got fully loaded, it hangs the shutdown and it shows me the daemon hanging like earlier.
