Howdy, thought I’d do an update here…
Looking pretty good at this point:
- The Ansible pattern I mentioned above is largely working - there are examples now in
baseas well as for HAProxy and Anubis.- That includes a handler for compiling SELinux modules if needed.
- I’ve migrated a lot of the “run this everywhere” stuff like process monitors, MDADM checks, stuck email, etc.
- I’ve started talking with @amedvede and @abompard to get input on monitoring RelEng and Application stuff.
- Eventualy we’ll have some nice SAML here where appropriate FAS groups can edit their templates and hosts, but for now you can reach out to me to work on this stuff together

In terms of Nagios items migrated to Zabbix, we’re somehere north of 70% now - plus a bunch of net-new stuff (like Anubis). What’s left is a couple more big-ticket items (http monitoring, Rabbit, datanommer) and then a slew of one-off checks that have built up over time.
The biggest issue right now is the noise level from Zabbix - I’ve started a sidebar chat to discuss that, comments welcome.
My goal is to get some agreement that this becomes official sometime this quarter (so, by Jan) - I’d love to know what blockers (either specific items we must have migrated, or other concerns) that people see ahead of that.
