Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 - Fedora 41 WS Install ARM64

Good morning/evening…

I am on a nasty little struggle bus this last week. I am brand new to Linux and made a poor decision to try to install it on my personal laptop.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 7th Edition
Snapdragon X 10-Core X1P64100 @ 3.40 GHZ
16GB RAM
ARM-64 based processor
Windows 11 Home

I have turned off Bit Locker, Secure Boot, and fast startup.

I have tried flashing with Ventoy, Fedora Media Writer, Etcher… I have used MBR, GPT, FAT32, exFAT, NFTS… Everytime, it hangs in a boot loop until I restart it and remove the USB. Then it just boots back to Windows…

Please help this noob who picked a massive challenge to learn thru.

P.S. I was successful installing Ubuntu (which I may go back to) but I would really like to try Fedora 41.

There is some talk of F41 and Rawhide at the following threads…

Hello! I’m currently trying to help a friend switch to linux on the surface laptop 7, and i was having some trouble installing Ubuntu.

As I pressed the “Try and install Ubuntu” button in grub, everything froze and we eventually had to reboot into windows.

I’d really appreciate some pointers on how you managed it. Thank you
