Magic keystoke seems to have changed display resolution (?)

I am running Fedora 40, installed it last week. Installed with no issue. Everything went normally. Monitor is ViewSonic

Yesterday I was typing and I am pretty sure I was typing a control character but whatever it was, the screen resolution changed to VGA or maybe CGA mode or the screen was magnified.

I have rebooted, reset the monitor switched to console mode (Ctrl-Shift-F4) (which displayed with resolution 1920x1080). I verified the display settings is set at 1920x1080. I looked at ViewSonic screen setup and resolution is also set at 1920x1080. When I reboot and login, screen is 1920x1080 and switches to this magnified mode after I complete login, it seems like I’ve somehow altered a sticky session state.

Any help greatly appreciated.

You did not tell us what DE is in use, whether it is gnome, kde, or ?

It seems likely that your setting was saved in one of the files located under ~/.config or similar and thus needs to be cleared out to allow normal display. Possibly one of the dconf settings though I am not an expert in that area.

Desktop is Gnome but, I found my problem - in Accessibility there’s a Magnification Factor and it was set to 2, so there must be a key sequence that changes this.

Set it back to 1 and all is well again.

Thanks for the help
