Looking for Fedora Workstation testers for Sound Blaster Linux Control Center

Hi Fedora community,

I’ve released the first public version of Sound Blaster Linux Control Center, an open-source Linux control center for Creative Sound Blaster Z-series cards.

I’m specifically looking for Fedora Workstation users who would be willing to test it on real Fedora hardware and report what works and what doesn’t.

Currently hardware-tested

  • Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS
  • Bazzite / Fedora Atomic

Community testing requested

  • Fedora Workstation
  • Arch-family distributions
  • openSUSE
  • Debian-family distributions other than Ubuntu

The project uses PipeWire/WirePlumber and provides features including:

  • 10-band EQ
  • 5.1 channel controls
  • Spatial / Speaker Fill
  • Bass Management
  • Safe Headroom
  • Microphone processing
  • Persistent audio settings
  • PipeWire-based audio routing

The installer has distro-detection and dependency-handling paths for several Linux families, but I don’t want to claim Fedora Workstation compatibility until it has been tested on actual Fedora Workstation hardware.

I’m interested in both successful and unsuccessful results. In particular, installation problems, Sound Blaster detection, 5.1 routing, EQ, channel controls, microphone processing, or anything behaving differently from Ubuntu or Bazzite would be useful feedback.

The GitHub repository includes a bug-report template and a privacy-conscious diagnostic collector to make troubleshooting easier.

I’m the developer of the project, and this is an early community-testing release. I’m mainly looking for people willing to try it on actual Fedora hardware and tell me what works and what doesn’t.

People will have to have a Sound Blaster card to test this right?
Which will be a very slim sample of our community.

I would suggest you run a Live USB of Workstation and KDE to test it on youself.

Thanks. Yes, you’re correct — for the hardware-specific testing I’m looking for people who actually have a Sound Blaster card, so I realize that’s going to be a relatively small subset of Fedora users.

The Live USB suggestion is a good one. I’ll use Fedora Workstation/KDE Live on my own Sound Blaster system to work through the general Fedora compatibility issues myself.

I’m mainly hoping community testing can eventually cover combinations I can’t reproduce here — different Sound Blaster models, Fedora versions/desktops, and PipeWire configurations.
