Login screen blacking out repeatedly

,

A little backstory: I ran the HDR Calibrator in the KDE system settings earlier today, found no revert function when I didn’t like the results and wanted to go back, not really a Fedora problem I know, so I used my Timeshift to go back a week (my system is ext4 so it shouldn’t be a problem?) after which the system couldn’t get to the login screen at all.

With that covered, I reinstalled and got things set up, now when I’m on the login screen it blacks out in the same way the system does when you apply new display settings, does so repeatedly, and I’m rather confused. When I log in it sorts itself out instantly and has zero issues. Any ideas?

You might be hit by a known Plasma issue described in this topic. If so, given that the fix has landed in the repos, an upgrade from a text console should solve the issue.

Unfortunately that update didn’t fix it. When I pull up the source info on the screen, it shows the screen resolution change from 4k to 720 by something and I would imagine the display doesn’t like that very much, is there a way I can prevent that? Perhaps force a display configuration for the login screen?

There IS a way, it was in the SDDM part of the system settings, a button to “Apply Plasma Settings” and that has fixed the problem I was having.
