Hi guys,

A server to serve what? HTML? Torrents? Git Repos? A blog?
As a question this is too open to be answered - it very much depends on what you want to serve and to what - humans, bots, AI, other servers, etc.
Sorry Steve maybe that was a bad idea. Thanks for your expertise
Nah - not a bad idea - just too open of a question as currently posed.
Narrow it down a bit and you’ll get suggestions on what software you’ll need to serve specific content.
Hey, you can start with a virtual machine (Virt manager or gnome boxes) and the Fedora server image. This will give you a perfect environment to tinker with low risk. After that, check GitHub - AwesomeHomelab/awesome-homelab: Curating Top Open Source Apps for Homelab Enthusiasts · GitHub for some ideas about things you can run on your server (unless you have an specific idea already).
A nice starter setup is cockpit for a nice web interface, from there you can install some cockpit plugins to handle other things on your server. Feel free to ask any doubts.
