Sometimes kwin-wayland crashes continually othertimes runs with a very ocassional crashes any help would br appreciated
I have had no response to my request for help despite many views so I am downgrading to F42 and I am thinking about looking for another version of Linux to replace Fedora.
The easiest way is probably to check if you have the same issue with a KDE Plasma live system and, if you do, see if the same issue occurs with, say Workstation. Or with F44 KDE Plasma.
I checked the software installer and it does not seem to list the desktops, although it has KDE listed as installed.
The best way is to use the command line.
sudo dnf group list --available | grep -i "desktop"
For some reason that does not list all the desktops, but you can search on “"fedora 43 list of desktop environments“, and this will list the possible desktops in the AI Overview at the top of google.
A further search on how to install the desktop of choice will provide commands as below.
From there you can run the command :
sudo dnf group install "MATE Desktop"
or
sudo dnf group install "Cinnamon Desktop"
Then to switch to those desktop environments installed, the following link will help.
Thank you for your responses, I was given a solution by RupertPupkin on fedoraforum.org to try using X11 (dnf install plasma-workspace-x11). Since I have done this I have had no further crashes.
