Sounds like you did not reboot/logout since updating your system.
The crash might because you are running with a mix of old and new libraries in memory/disk.

What would be a reasonable amount of reboots of Fedora 44 KDE Plasme edition?

One, after an update.

Or perform an offline update, where the new software is installed as part of the reboot.
