Kinoite and Nvidia

Hi,
At the moment I run Kinoite 44 fully updated, last deployment is 44:20260905.0, without the Nvidia drivers installed from RPM-Fusion. I only use the integrated GPU belonging to my AMD CPU.
I also have a rollback deployment 44:20260902.0 which I now have pinned.

When I do the Nvidia install, after adding the RPM-Fusion repos, will the driver also be layered to the rollback deployment, or will that stay the way it is now? I ask this cause I am not sure if I want to keep the Nvidia drivers. If not, I can simply rollback to the September 2 deployment as if nothing has happened and upgrade my system from there.
I’m not sure about this because I don’t know how this works.

Who can explain the system of layering, or where can I find good information about this?

The Way I have always understood this is, When installing NVIDIA drivers on Kinoite via RPM Fusion, the driver modules are built by akmods and installed using rpm-ostree layering.

This means the driver is not part of the base immutable image and will not automatically appear in the rollback deployment if you revert to a previous snapshot.

The NVIDIA driver will not be in the rollback deployment; it stays only on the deployment where it was layered.

I hope that helps…

This is what I was hoping for.
Thank you for this answer.
