Kernel 5.2.5-200 has no network connectivity

Did a yum upgrade and kernel kernel-5.2.5-200.fc30.x86_64 was installed.
After a reboot, i had no more network connectivity on both the physical network cable and WiFi

Switching back to kernel-5.0.9-301.fc30.x86_64 via the grub menu fixes it.

Hello @janvladimirmostert
Could you provide the result of these commands?

lspci
And also of this one
nmcli con

Maybe running them in the working system as well as booting the non working one.

Are you definitely sure that wired network doesn’t work?
Because if the problem is limited to the Intel wireless interface, it could be a known issue affecting a lot of people.

on the “working” system, if i disconnect the WiFi, there’s simply no internet, this same wired connection was working 100% in Ubuntu still.

on the non-working system, neither WiFi nor wired connection is working

i haven’t installed a VPN or anything strange yet, everything is still as is since after installation yesterday

Mmm, let try testing the wired connection again, i notice the cat chewed on the cable last night

Works with a new cable, let me try rebooting and see if the wireless is still affected

So it’s only a WiFi issue, WiFi doesn’t work when booting into 5.2.5-200

Ok.
So you are probably facing this issue:

Thank you very much @alciregi,

   sudo dnf downgrade -y iwl7260-firmware
   sudo rmmod iwlmvm iwlwifi
   sudo modprobe iwlwifi

Fixes it

After upgrade to kernel-5.2.5-200.fc30.x86_64 on a ASRock B450M Pro4 with AMD ryzen 5 ‘Raven Ridge’ I always have to boot from any older kernel version available to login. when starting from kernel-5.2.5-200.fc30.x86_64 I see the login screen, but after login I only get a black screen, nothing works anymore, not even Ctrl - Alt - F1, and I need to force power off using the power button. Starting from any older kernel version works normally. Should I make a new post about this? There isn’t enough information to file a bug report.

@peterjmb, I think you need to make a new post, it’s clearly a different issue (even if with the same kernel version).

Also just recently update to 5.2.6 became available, please try it.

P.S. And 5.2.7 is available through updates-testing.

One more easy thing to try is to temporarily create a new user, then boot new kernel and try to login as a new user, to check if the problem caused by your user’s settings. You can delete new user afterwards.

I propose to discuss this further in a new topic.

@janvladimirmostert, I am in the same situation with an AMD Ryzen 7 2700U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx. When using kernel-5.2.5-200.fc30.x86_64 wifi (Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8822BE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WiFi adapter) is no longer available and GNOME is unstable, freezing the screen from time to time. Going back to 5.0.9-301.fc30.x86_64 fixes.

I got the same issue. I opened a bug on Red Hat: 1738942 – kernel 5.2.5 doen't load module r8822be

I have a laptop with RTL8822BE WiFi. It used to work with Fedora 29. It stopped working when upgraded to Fedora 30. It works with some routers - for example when I am using my Samsung phone as a hot spot. It doesn’t work with my ISP supplied router. The router is configured to use 5G only in 802.11a/n/ac mixed mode with WPA2-PSK AES security. The network is hidden.
