(KDE) When connected to two monitors (one 1080p, the other 4K) in duplicate mode, games render in 4K on the 1080p monitor

I’m having an issue with games being run at 4K resolution (I know because my GPU fan starts to spin up quickly) on a 1080p monitor.

My setup is as follows :

  • Fedora 43 KDE
  • An AMD 9070 XT
  • An ASUS 1080p monitor (Displayport) and a 4K LG TV (HDMI)
    • The ASUS monitor is the main one.
    • They’re in duplicate mode (content is the same on both monitors
    • In KDE settings, the LG TV has a resolution of 4K, but the same issue happens in 1080p
    • The TV Screen is turned off.

If I start a game via Steam, any game actually, its resolution in-game is set to 4K. if I try to downsize it to 1080p, it appears in a small window on screen.

The only workaround I found is either unplug the LG TV or disable it in KDE settings, but it’s not very user friendly.

Anyone has any similar issue or info on how to fix this? That would be very much appreciated.
