KDE Plasma Wayland ESC key detected by libinput/evtest but not working in applications

OS: Nobara Linux 44 (KDE Plasma Desktop Edition) x86_64
Kernel: Linux 7.1.4-200.nobara.fc44.x86_64
Desktop: KDE Plasma 6.7.3
Window Manager: KWin (Wayland)
Hardware: MSI GF63 Thin 11UC (REV:1.0)
CPU: Intel Core i7-11800H
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Mobile + Intel UHD Graphics

Problem:
The ESC key does not work in any application.

Tests:

  • sudo libinput debug-events detects KEY_ESC
  • sudo evtest /dev/input/event4 detects KEY_ESC
  • Esc does not work in KDE applications or Firefox/etc.

Hardware:
Laptop keyboard:
AT Translated Set 2 keyboard (/dev/input/event4)

No remappers installed:
keyd/input-remapper/kmonad/kanata not present

Question:
Could someome please help me with this? i have no idea on how to solve it

You’re running Nobara, not Fedora - as such you’ll need to pose this question to Nobara support.

It’s weird and you’re the only one I’ve seen with this issue - doesn’t appear to be a Fedora bug as far as I can tell.

Anyone can create their own tag when posting in the Ask Fedora section.

The obvious answer (and I’m not trying to be flippant here) is that someone once added a tag for Nobara.

In this forum we provide help and support for all the Fedora spins. Including the atomic versions.

However, if it’s not a Fedora spin, then we have no idea what has been done to it to make it significantly different. We don’t offer support for Nobara in the same same way that we can’t and don’t offer support for CachyOS or any other derivation of a Fedora release or spin.

To add to the comment by Steve above.
On the opening page when going to the Nobara site there exists a description of the many changes from Fedora. It shows that Nobara is significantly different than Fedora and thus we cannot support it.

Nobara is not a Fedora Spin and has no formal relationship with Red Hat. It uses their code and repositories but remains a separate project.

Indeed. Their homepage doesn’t mention their subreddit (r/NobaraProject), but that seems fairly active and worth trying for unofficial support.
