KDE automatic light-dark mode transition broken

Hi !
Ever since fedora updated from Plasma 6.5 to Plasma 6.6, the automatic transition between light and dark mode has been broken for me. Subsequent updates to 6.6 and transition to Plasma 6.7 never solutioned the issue.
It only works once, when I set it to automatic and then stays stuck in dark mode when I start the computer in the morning. So every morning I have to go to settings, click breeze, then click automatic, then apply.
What could be the issue here ? Fedora Kinoite if that matters.

FYI KDE has a forum for plasma over at https://discuss.kde.org/

Maybe it’s this issue you have? Plasma 6.5's new automatic dark mode feature is completely broken if you use flatpaks - Help - KDE Discuss

Hum, I don’t think this is it. Plasma 6.5 worked perfectly for me.
I’m asking here first, because reading plasma 6.6 changelog make it seem like automatic theme switching is a brand new thing, while it already existed for me on 6.5, so I thought Fedora might have a specific tweak applied to it.
Further more the issue you’re referencing applies only to flatpak, and the core of Kinoite isn’t entirely built on flatpak.
But I’ll ask on the KDE forum if this doesn’t yield anything here.

Where you using an add-on to do the switching in 6.5?
As you say it’s now built in since 6.6.

Nope, whatever did fedora shipped plasma 6.5 with.
As far has it built in since 6.6: Plasma 6.5 - KDE Community This does show the feature was indeed existing in Plasma 6.5

The Fedora KDE folks package whatever the KDE developers release.
I’m not aware of packaging add on things.

If anyone is wondering exactly, what I mean by “stuck in dark mode” here’s a screenshot from yesterday morning: As you can see, the setting app is correctly in light mode, but the whole desktop itself (Task bar/Background) is stuck in dark mode. while the widget claims it’s using the standard breeze.

To get this fixed/debugged I think you need to raise with the KDE folks.

Already did ask on their forums yesterday ! I’ll wait for an answer !

But doing some googling seems I’m the only one with this issue, so I’m not confident in a positive outcome.

Edit: And given you’re the only one bothering to answer here, I’m guessing it’s not a replicable issue too !

It might be a bad config file in .config that is breaking this.

If you create a new user and login as the new user does the problem go away.

I did not try to replicate, I just leave all my systems in dark mode all the time.

This has happened to me few times as well on 6.7.x, but I haven’t noticed a way to reproduce this reliably. My system is configured to perform switch depending on day/night cycle based on manual location.

Simple logout/login is enough to make sure the proper theme is applied.

Mhh yeah. I had to resort to that fault of a better answer. I binded a shortcut for logout without confirmation, so if I see the session isn’t the correct theme, I just kill it instantly.
Not perfect, but it’s the only painless workaround to this issue.
