It's time for a new DEI advisor

Hey folks, I wanted to share some news regarding my role as the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Advisor at the Fedora council.

As some of you might know, my responsibilities have expanded significantly in recent times, particularly with my work at UNICEF and my move to another country. While I’ve been honored to serve as the DEI Advisor, I’ve come to realize that I have too much on my plate to continue in this role effectively.

You may have heard the saying, “Don’t lick the cookie!” In other words, it’s time for me to step aside and allow someone with the capacity and passion to take the reins.

The process for selecting a new DEI advisor is through team nomination and agreement. With that in mind, I wish to nominate @jonatoni to take over as the DEI Advisor. Jona’s commitment to inclusivity and her dedication to our community make her the ideal candidate to carry forward the mission of DEI within Fedora community.

Just my two cents - I think @jonatoni would be a great DEI Advisor and support this.

She’s been a great contact, supportive, and I’ve appreciated our time to talk and hear out my vision of Fedora Pride as a part of DEI!

Thank you @siddharthvipul1 for all of your time and efforts put into the DEI Team and in the DEI Advisor position since Fedora 35.

I kicked off the next steps to formalize this off-boarding and on-boarding in a GitLab issue. The nomination window for a new Advisor is open for one week. For now, @jonatoni is our only candidate for the DEI Advisor role.
