Issues with Fedora 44 shutting down

I use a Legion Pro 5. Whenever I shutdown/restart my computer, it gets stuck on the loading screen. I have to hold the power button to turn it off.

I have tried updating my system using the terminal (sudo dnf update) but the issue still persists.

P.S. I am very new to using the Fedora docs and Fedora Linux and I am still learning.

How long did you wait for the system to shutdown?
Sometimes it can take a few minutes if there is a slow service.
Try pressing ESC to see the log messages.
What do you see?

I have waited for over 10 minutes and it is still stuck in the loading screen. It is like the Display is frozen. Something about user@1000 is messed up I think.

You have a crash in nvidia_modeset which then never responds to KDE and wayland trying to shut it down, as it’s already toast.

Oh so that is the problem! So, how should I solve this problem? Should I install the GPU drivers in a different way or do I have to do something else?

Post the output from inxi -ezxx (you’ll likel need to install it first) as pre-formatted text so that any quoting doesn’t make a total mess of it.

Once we can see what you have installed, what versions of drivers, BIOS, software, etc you have we’ll have a better chance of getting to the root cause.

I suspect you have an AMD CPU, with onboard graphics and hybrid a nvidia chipset, which sometimes doesn’t play well together, but until we see exactly what tin you own, it’s guesswork.

Actually, it is the nvidia_modeset. It doesn’t start on startup. I downloaded inxi -ezxx and got this output:

I downloaded my GPU drivers using “NVIDIA Linux Graphics Driver” from Discover. Could this be the cause of the problem?
