I’ve seen the other topics about recent libheif issues, but they’re not the same as mine.
My system tries to update libheif from version 0:1.21.2-1.fc44 to version 0:1.23.4-6.fc44, but whenever it tries, there’s this conflict:
Transaction failed: Rpm transaction failed.
file /usr/share/doc/libheif/README.md from install of libheif-1.23.4-6.fc44.i686 conflicts with file from package libheif-1.21.2-1.fc44.x86_64
I tried removing the readme files from my currently installed libheif directory but it still produces the same error. If i try removing libheif entirely to try and install again, it gives me this:
sudo dnf rm libheif*
Failed to resolve the transaction:

problem with installed package
So I’m at a loss at what to do next, I can’t find this weird problem anywhere else.
This is still a version mismatch with the libheif update. The new package, libheif-freeworld is now available so the update of libheif should not be an issue.
I suspect there may have been more messages than this in the errors shown.
Every other report of errors with libheif that I have seen here were related to the fact that the users had libheif-freeworld installed and the update to that package had not been available so it caused version mismatches. Now the update to the freeworld package is available so it no longer impacts updates.
Removing libheif however tries to remove some other packages and that gives the errors you see.
You might be able to remove libheif cleanly with the command sudo dnf remove libheif\* --noautoremove and avoid those other problems. Please do not do that unless you have no other choice.
At least try the update again before removing anything.
That wouldn’t help because dnf isn’t looking at the files on disk but only at what the dnf database says what is supposed to be on the disk. What I would suggest is remove the 32bit version only:
sudo dnf remove libheif.i686
but do check if that would cause other packages to be removed as well before confirming the removal.
Total size of inbound packages is 18 MiB. Need to download 18 MiB.
After this operation, 3 MiB extra will be used (install 60 MiB, remove 57 MiB).
