Issue with Color Range Broadcast in GNOME on Fedora 40

I’ve encountered an issue related to the color range broadcast in GNOME. Previously, I was able to change the color range from automatic to full using the proptest command from drmlib. The specific command I added was proptest 185 connector 191 1, which I inserted into the Default file located at /etc/gdm/PostLogin.

This method worked perfectly up until Fedora 39. However, upon upgrading to Fedora 40, I’ve noticed that this method no longer works. The color range does not change as expected when the system boots up.

Additional Information:

  • The same issue has also been observed in Ubuntu 24.04, where the method worked fine in Ubuntu 23.10 but is no longer effective in the newer version.
  • I’ve tested the command in tty3, and it does change the color range from automatic to full as expected. However, when I switch back to the GUI, the settings revert back to their original state.

I’m looking for any insights or solutions to this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
