Hello, I am very new to linux. I’d like to know why the ISO download is so slow? I’m getting 200 KB/s and I have a good connection, and it’s the same on my other devices.
Thanks for your help.
It just depends on what mirror your browser connects to. You might try downloading it with a BitTorrent app.
Thanks !
You could also try a special link that brings you to a host near to you.
Normally you would use this link for download:
https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/44/
If you change “dl” into “download” you get a faster connection:
https://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/44/
Maybe this works for you?
You shouldn’t normally use that first link to download images. It is an upstream mirror that many secondary mirrors point to and use to update their copies. That upstream mirror is ahead of the other mirrors because it receives content first, but it is very slow to download from directly. You will always get better speed from the second link you shared.
Do not use the first link directly unless you are running a mirror. Doing so hinders the other mirrors getting their updates in a timely fashion and compounds the problem.
I sometimes get issues like this, for downloads apart from iso too.
When i get slow download speeds like these i connect to cloudflare warp which makes the download wayyy faster.
once a 3GB game showed that it is going to take 10 long hours to download, after connecting to warp it reduced to 20 (minutes hehe) ![]()
Heres a screenshot i took back then.
Will keep that in mind. Thanks for mentioning this! ![]()
